The company was founded in 2001 under French law as a joint stock company that watered down or "SAS" (Société par Actions Simplifiée). Airbus employs around 40,000 employees in several European countries. Final assembly held in Toulouse, France and Hamburg, Germany, although the construction was carried out in several factories in Europe.
